Walnut Elementary School New Multipurpose Room and Classroom Additions
Walnut Valley Unified School District
Walnut, California
The Walnut Valley Unified School District engaged SGH Architects to design a new Multi-Purpose space, kindergarten classroom, and new upper grades classroom building at Walnut Elementary School. The site has poor geotechnical conditions that require mitigation and in order to keep construction costs under control, we designed a single comprehensive building solution to accommodate access to the Multi-Purpose Room well as orienting the classrooms for accessibility. In collaboration with the stakeholders, existing facilities, and site constraints, we were able to provide a design that checked all the boxes.

While the building has its own identity, we respected the existing campus by borrowing cues and incorporating contextual materials into the design.
Now complete, the new building will serve the students, staff and community of Walnut Elementary School well - for many years to come.
