  • A Senior Project Leader for SGH Architects will be responsible for preparing architectural design and construction documents.  All Senior Project Leaders are required to have a working knowledge of how sites are developed and how buildings are constructed.  They must have strong knowledge of the production of design/construction documents used to construct building projects. Minimum Requirements:
    • Education: Architectural or Interior Design degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated proficiency.
    • Experience:  Minimum of 7-10 years experience in the production and coordination of documents in all phases of architectural practice.
    • Software: Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.); Sketch-up.
     Expectations: The following are the minimum expectations of a Senior Project Leader in the firm:  General:
    • Establish productive working relationships, and communicate effectively, professionally, and cooperatively with clients, team members, consultants, vendors, and government agencies.
    • Display willingness to make decisions in a timely manner; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain the reasoning for decisions, and include appropriate people in the decision-making process.
    • Asks questions about assignments when unclear.
    • Develop and maintain a working knowledge and understanding for use of firm resources, equipment, and software.
    • Coordinate projects with team members and consultants for conflicts and discrepancies.
    • Ability to apprise manager on the status of work.
    • Ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing to give assignments to office support staff, consultants, and vendors.
    • Ability to delegate assignments to support staff and always be respectful.
    • Support project leadership in directing and assisting assigned staff.
    • Proficiency with SGH Architects documentation standards and office practice systems.
    • Correspond effectively with consultants for CAD/Revit files and provide minor directives.
    • Ensure that all project documents meet firm standards.
    • Assist in preparing support documents for AFO’s/CCDs and RFI responses.
    • Assist in preparation for interviews, competitions, and proposals as requested.
    • Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges.
    • Set goals, prioritize, and plan work activities for self-management, and use time efficiently.
    • Assist Project Manager in estimating hours for assigned tasks and finish tasks within agreed-upon budget hours for the task.
    Design:
    • Proficient in the documentation of project design in CAD/Revit such as three-dimensional modeling, product, or material research.
    • Skilled in the documentation of project design in CAD such as three-dimensional modeling, product or material research.
    • Ability to follow the design intent of graphic and verbal directions during all phases of the project.
    • Development of project documents during all phases of a project.
     Technical:
    • Organization and production of working drawings.
    • Lead all aspects of the plan check process.
    • Demonstrate CAD/Revit competency in advance commands of editing requirements, drawings set up for any type of project, management and use of all CAD files, and resolution of any related CAD issues on firm CAD platform.
    • Illustrate knowledge of drawing setup, layers, plotting/publishing, dimensions, families, attributes, purge/audit/recover, and backup files and view templates.
    • Proficient in understand technical terminology of the architectural and construction industry.
    • Ability to prepare complex plans, elevations, and details under the guidance of the Project Manager or Principal.
    • Understand the requirements/deliverables of all phases.
    • Apply building code concepts of accessibility, occupant loads, exit widths, fire-rated walls and doors, ramps, stairs, and handrails, as examples.
    • Understanding of basic construction systems and detailing for walls, roofs, doors, and windows.
    • Support the Construction Administration (CA) phase of a project by assisting in the review of submittals, shop drawings, response to RFI's, and preparation of instruction bulletins for changes.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to advance the firm’s reputation for superior service in all aspects of technical project development, technical project presentation, graphic standards, and with any external communication.

    • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the production and coordination of documents in all phases of architectural practice.
    • Software: AutoCAD and Revit, Microsoft Office Suite Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) or demonstrated equivalent and proficiency; Sketch-up.
    Expectations The following are the minimum expectations that the Principal Ownership requires of a Designer I in the firm:  General:
    • Establish productive working relationships, and deal effectively and cooperatively with clients, team members, consultants, and government agencies.
    • Display willingness to make decisions in a timely manner; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain the reasoning for decisions; and include appropriate people in the decision-making process.
    • Resolve issues related to client concerns, team members, and consultants in a timely manner.
