Skyblue Mesa Elementary School Library and Classroom Addition
Saugus Union School District
Santa Clarita, California
As part of the District’s relocatable replacement program, SGH Architects designed a new 10,000 SF Library, Flex Science Classroom, and Standard Classroom Building that houses 6 rooms. The Library takes advantage of natural daylighting and opens into a shared collaboration area with the Science Classroom as well as access to outdoor learning spaces where students can read and experiment with science-related projects. The Classrooms also occupy a shared “Collaboration Corridor” for learning opportunities where sliding glass doors allow for cross-collaboration and “sticky spaces” that encourage spontaneous learning.
