David Higginson, AIA
- "The architect is not only the director, but he is the composer. And, as a composer, the architect brings a sense of creativity to each building."
Although David considers practicing architecture to be stress-free, occasionally he sneaks away to cast a fly line on some pristine river in Northern California or take his 1965 Chevelle around town for a quick cruise.
David maintains a strong role in developing and nurturing client relations. He is very active in the public information aspect of the firm and has given numerous presentations and career workshops for both high school and college-level students. After working with the Division of the State Architect for nearly 35 years, Mr. Higginson is familiar with the complicated approval process and works well with both the San Diego and Los Angeles regional offices.
David brings over 34 years of experience to SGH Architects, working on educational, higher education, commercial, and healthcare projects. His experience with new construction, renovation and expansion include projects with a combined construction value of more than $1.5B for various K-12 school and community college districts, private and numerous healthcare and community clinics throughout the state. David is active with the California Architects Board as a Subject Matter Expert in the development and implementation of the Architects California Supplemental Exam. He has participated in numerous emergency responses with the California Office of Emergency Services, including recent earthquake assessments in Napa and Calexico as well as spending two weeks in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.
David serves on the Board of the American Institute of Architects Inland Chapter (AIAIC) and is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).Back to People Page
